Every Patent Application Includes a Basic Limit

When you file a patent application in India, the official filing fee covers:

  • Up to 10 Patent Claims
  • Up to 30 Pages (Specification, Claims, Abstract and Drawings where applicable)

Additional claims: 8 extra claims. Therefore the additional Government fee: 8 × ₹320 = ₹2,560

Why More Claims Mean More Fees

For Natural Person / Startup / Small Entity / Educational Institution (e-filing): ₹160 for every page beyond the first 30 pages.

Example: Suppose your application contains: Total Pages = 42. Included: First 30 pages and Extra pages: 12 pages. So, additiona Government fee for pages would be: 12 × ₹160 = ₹1,920

Why Extra Pages Increase Fees
